Back in the big time.
Today we started recording the new TV project, which is still secret, so I can’t say much about it. It was however, lovely to be working and out of the house for the first time since March.  And this was just ridiculous fun. I spent most of the day in tears of laughter. It was a wonderful catharsis. Laughter really is the best medicine. It was an exhausting day, but I left full of happiness.
The precautionary measures were pretty stringent. Both me and the driver who took me to the studios happily wore our masks in the car. Masks are great. They really let you know when your breath is smelling. And also stop anyone else having to smell it except you. It’s like reversoworld.
Maybe we should all wear a mask for the first 20 minutes of the day even after Covid has been blasted from the earth. Just so we can have more awareness of our own halitosis and do something about it.
I did something about it. Because I would not be wearing a mask on camera and even with a 2 metre gap, that morning breath could have felled an ox.
Once there I had my third Covid test in two weeks, everyone was wearing masks and PPE and our temperatures were taken on arrival and everything was socially distanced.
I got a much needed hair cut, but still had to wear my mask and the haircut was done by someone who looked like they could probably go beekeeping afterwards.
Small price to pay to get to back to work though and perfectly possible to carry on with next to no risk to anyone. What a relief for everyone. There was a palpable sense of relief that the business is spluttering back to life. Hardly anyone involved in this production will have worked for four months.
Of course, there was no audience, but we quickly didn’t notice or if we did we didn’t mind.
The day was slightly dampened by the news that York City had fallen at the first hurdle whilst trying to exit the National League North via the playoffs. So they must be the first team to ever top their league at the end of the season, not have any points deducted and yet still not get promoted (aside from the Premiership obviously). I have come to expect nothing but disappointment from mum chosen team and yet still they disappoint me.
Better news was the discovery that Ally and Herring have had their first bit of press, with a nice little round up of my activities in the Metro (I presume they’ve called it dry stone walling to throw off the stone stasi)
Left home at 9.45am and home at about 10.45pm. But I will never complain about long working days again. The kids are staying at their grandparents so there’s even a chance of a mini lie-in tomorrow. Which would be any time after 6.30am.
