Chris Evans (not that one) had stayed overnight, quarantined in the attic to keep him or us safe, and after another morning’s live-streamed stone clear, I returned to find him having worked hard whilst we were having a mothers’ day breakfast in bed and have all my scenes easy to use on a little press button display.
We did some practice stuff - including me playing Scrabble and managing to get three bingos in a row and look like a Scrabble genius to the 25 people watching. He’d also come up with a way to make one camera act like two so I could interview myself pre-match.
Before he left we went to the field to record some drone footage of me stone-clearing and then he went back to Welsh Wales, whilst I attempted to make up for being a poor husband on Mothers’ Day morning, by playing with the kids and taking them to the woods to climb trees. Looking after two kids and a dog in an unusually busy wood was pretty stressful, but luckily none of them ran away too far or fell out a tree. I am pretty terrified of any of us needing hospital treatment for non-Corona virus stuff. This is where the complacent younger generation are going to suffer in the next month. If the hospitals are full then it won’t just be the virus that can kill you… keep it light Rich.
I am though as scared of the non-viral consequences of all this than the the viral ones.
But aside from me accidentally leaving the radio mic on all day and having to fill whilst I recharged it, the self-playing snooker match was a triumph. Me 16 (the Scottish part of me) took on Me 13 (the Somerset childhood part of me) in a thrilling 3 frame contest that I think might literally be the sporting event of the year. We didn’t have the right button ticked so it’s not automatically in the Twitch videos, but I can hopefully get it up there imminently. I don’t think you will be disappointed. Already a couple of great characters in with a shot of becoming Sports Personality of the Year. Though one of them, of course, is now out of this contest.
And if you have Amazon Prime or know anyone who does, you have free money you can give to me by signing up to Twitch, linking your accounts and then subscribing on my page. Doesn't autorenew, but once you're linked it's a pretty simple process to redo. Good luck.
Recommended film for the lockdown - Spiderman: Into the Spideyverse. They get parallel universes right and it’s a very witty and enjoyable film. The kids both love it and I think it’s awesome. It will cheer you right up.
