A long day’s journey into night as we made our way to Newcastle for RHLSTP at the Stand. I was running a bit late and both forgot to close the garage door and failed to properly secure the boot of the car. As I drove up the hill towards my tour manager’s house I could hear the door bumping up and down and worried that all the cameras and merchandise would roll out into the road. I pulled over and repacked. Luckily my wife spotted that the garage door was open or someone could have nipped in and stolen 5000 Emergency Questions books.
And my strimmer.
Always a delight to play the Newcastle Stand and two terrific guests tonight (I mean tonight and next week). It was great to see Dave Johns again - I met him in Adelaide in 1997 where we were part of a crew of bewildered and pasty UK comics brought over to perform in a paradise of sun, beer, drugs and beautiful Australians. We went on a sight seeing trip to Kangaroo Island and Davey booked a clown to come with us. She stayed in character for pretty much the whole trip.
Dave has been a stalwart of the stand up circuit for three decades, but just as he was thinking about packing it in to do donkey rides, and then he got the part in the Ken Loach film and now is hobnobbing with Meryl Streep and Donald Sutherland and having sex scenes with Alison Steadman (who also plays my mum in my sitcom so I don’t know how I feel about that). Anyway fame hasn’t changed him and he’s still the same cheeky wee prick he ever was and thank God for that. You’re going to love this one.
Seymour Mace was the other guest and I love the way his mind works- he gave some properly unique answers to the emergency questions and is an extremely inventive comedian, with an exquisite tinge of sadness. Although this was an exhausting day and there was a big gap of ninety minutes between the interviews, allowing me to crash a little bit mentally in between, I didn’t feel at all tired on stage and both these interviews flew by.

The episode of Greg Jenner’s  You’re Dead To Me that I recorded a few months ago is now out. It’s about Stonehenge and it was lots of fun to do. Hope you enjoy it.

Managed to get a few more names confirmed for the tour on the journey - David Reed will be joining me in York

And I think I have the Liverpool guests sorted too, but will confirm soon.  This one is selling fast.

And have just booked the second guest for this Monday's Leicester Square RHLSTP, Athena Klugbenu. Still tickets for this one (next two London RHLSTPs are sold out and the one on 11th November has hardly any tickets left)  Book here.
So that should be all the October dates sorted now, which would be OK, if we weren't already halfway through October!

All tour dates and confirmed guests are here.
