The
DVD went on sale this morning and demand was high which is a relief. I don't tend to watch the shows back, but had a look at
the clips on the site and was quite amazed by how long my hair was back in June. I look like a yeti. Or as some people observed it looks like I have got Justin Lee Collins (the Loaded funniest man in Britain) to do the gig for me. Why did no one tell me how shaggy my hair had become? Still I don't think anyone is buying my DVD for the eye candy and you can always just close your eyes and listen.
Having said that there is a certain type of pervert out there who finds my caveman look enticing. A Facebook group has been set up (by the twins who the evil podcast Richard Herring was so disgraceful about)
called "I Fancy Richard Herring and am only slightly ashamed to admit it" which is a double-edged compliment really. What is to be ashamed about? I am lush. Still it's good to see that 26 geeks and weirdos have made this shameful admission. Watch out Russell Brand here I come!
I am as terrified as I am flattered as I am offended. But good to have a page where all those unfortunates can go and sign up for. It will make the police's job a lot easier if anything ever happens to me.
Ridiculously I forgot to mention this on
Collings and Herrin podcast 101. Imagine how excited the podcast Richard Herring would have been about it. Maybe next week.
It seems like ages since we've done one of these, but we haven't missed a week yet (though once the tour gets into full flow I think we might have to take a couple of short breaks). But I am glad we're still going to make the effort to do them despite the 6Music show. Because it's fun to do the rude and uncensored version, as much as we're enjoying sitting in for Adam and Joe (we're now in that slot until the end of March by the way - amazingly I am back in London for all but one Saturday morning and we're going to try to do that one with me in a studio in Glasgow). And I probably couldn't have told my fart story on the BBC.
Not much else to tell you. The Leicester Square theatre gigs continue to go well and the place is packed out now, which only makes it slightly frustrating that the run is two weeks, because it feels like the word is just getting round now. But the ticket sales will really help to make the tour a financial success so thanks for coming. I have taken to spending the five minutes before the show starts sitting on Joe Mangel's stone age sofa (now hidden from view behind the theatre curtain), drinking
a cup of posh ginger tea and listening to the crowd and the walk in music. It's surprisingly relaxing. I sometimes also play a game of Conquest on the iPhone, though tonight that had the unfortunate effect of burning the game play on to my retinas, which meant tonight I spent the first two minutes of the gig seeing numbers floating around in the audience. Which isn't ideal.
