More of the same today, running around on a beach with a child with seemingly inexhaustible supplies of energy. There was a lot of running up the bank again, but luckily in the afternoon we discovered a big hole that someone else has dug and spent about an hour jumping in and out of that instead. It’s crazy what can keep a kid entertained, but to be honest, this was a lot more fun than doing work, so maybe it’s the adults who are crazy.
We don’t have any mobile phone coverage in our holiday flat which is annoying and wonderful in equal measure. It makes it tricky when something crops up, but it is also cool to be cut off properly from the world. We still have the internet (obviously) and can get signal in most places in Woolacombe, but it’s strange to be reminded of that world where you are not immediately contactable.
I managed to do more reading and have now nearly finished The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood. It’s more dystopian fun from my favourite living author and also includes sex robots, so it can’t really go wrong. It’s not her best book, but her best books are the best books and increasingly her work seems to be turning into prophecy rather than science fiction.
We also watched a chunk of Aziz Ansari’s Master of None, which is getting better and better. Ansari is charming and funny and this is a very classy sitcom, which plays around with the form, including an episode in which the main characters barely even appear (and it’s one of the best ones). Highly recommended if you haven’t caught this yet. Netflix, of course.
After quite a palaver I have finally managed to change my energy provider for my new house. I’ve gone with Bulb who use sustainable energy and who were my cheapest option according to this price comparison website (worth checking to see if you can get your own energy cheaper). I complain online a lot about the bad service I’ve got (because it’s funny and I like the sense of vengeance!) but I’ve been impressed with the customer service at Bulb- there was a mild mix up today which was quickly sorted out by email - so check them out. I have not been paid for this message. So will be able to let you know if they turn out to be terrible, like all other humans.
But if they turn out to be a good choice for you then use this link and we will both get some money off.
