Christmas is coming, Rich is getting fat. But I think we'll address that problem on my return from holiday when I shall be returning to my routine of exercise and healthy eating with renewed vigour.
For now it's booze, chocolate and lounging around. I thought that by going away over Christmas I might miss out on the seasonal gluttony, but today had my third Christmas dinner. Families and friends seem keen for us not to miss out on the traditions of the festival, just because we'll be on a beach in five days time!
My main fear though is that I will be ill when we fly. I have been winding down the over the last few days and there is a lot of flu going about and I've had a sore throat for the last couple of days. I suppose it's almost inevitable that the mixture of the stress of travelling and the relaxation of a holiday will mean I get ill at some point. But I am fearful that I will have to do the flight with an aching head and limbs. Hopefully I can avoid the germs, even though I am battering my body with booze and unhealthy food. Though I might need to travel in some trousers with an elasticated waist to avoid discomfort. It's depressing how easy it has been to undo the good work of the first half of the year. Though I'm still a stone lighter than I was at the start of the year. I hope. I am too scared to get on the scales at the moment and see the damage.
Still I was very glad to enjoy the full Christmas works this afternoon: it'd be a shame to miss out on it completely. What will I actually be eating for my Christmas dins though? A bit of fresh Christmas lobster might be cool. Where would you rather be? At home with your family, listening to the 5 Live Movie Quiz and wishing you were dead or on a golden beach in the sunshine, drinking rum cocktails and probably suffering from jet lag mixed with flu? It's a close call.
I can't believe how close my holiday is. I had better start packing.
