My first Father’s Day card written by one of my children.
She came up with the sentiment herself and though her mum helped her with the spelling, wrote it herself too.
It says “Daddy" (actually it says “baddy” but that’s got to be a mistake, right?)
“I know we have a lot of fun together xxxPhoebe”
I welled up a bit reading it.
Though to be fair that’s the kind of sentence I’ve heard a lot from women in my life and it’s usually followed by a “but…” Maybe Phoebe had more to say, but due to the size of her writing she ran out of room. So I’ll take it.
She even gave me a hug which is a super rare event
Phoebe had also jumped up this morning realising she hadn’t wrapped her present. She returned to ask me to help her with the sellotape and then disappeared again. Finally she came back with something balled up in a piece of A4 paper covered in tape. It was as well wrapped as any present I can do to be fair. It was a small plastic leopard. She’d given me one of her own toys. I think it was one she didn’t want any more, but still. It’s the thought that counts.
I welled up a bit reading it
My son had made me a card which (according to him, it was just scribble) had a picture of me doing a poo on the front of it. Which to be fair is my signature move.
Having kids is great. You know, for these tiny islands of time in between the chaos and the tears. But man, the islands are beautiful.
