The Emergency Questions app has arrived! So far it’s just for users of Apple products, but we’re working on an android version. The app and the first hit of questions is free, but if you want more then there are some additional question packs, one with all the questions from book one, one with 100 dating questions and one with 100 questions for kids (and you can hide the other question packs, so you don’t randomly end up asking your child about the Human Centipede).
Please download it (whether you want it or not - make us look popular) by heading here.

I had an utterly exhausting and mildly dispiriting 90 minute dog training session this morning. Basically the idea is to try and bribe your dog into behaving by constantly giving it treats, but for the moment Wolfie was too distracted by the other dogs and her natural desires to be free and so it mainly involved me failing to get her to do what she wanted and feeling like crying. We will get there, I am sure, but it was a tough first session. And it didn’t help that I had woken early and was exhausted and had figured this would only take 30 minutes.
The trainer was good though and brooked no nonsense. There is a rule that if you dog wees during the session you have to buy biscuits for the next one, if it poos you have to buy a cake and if it wees and poos you have to make a cake. I hoped that Wolfie would wee and poo because any cake that I made would be a punishment for all. But Wolfie didn’t wee or poo. She didn’t do anything she was supposed to, but she kept her excrement to herself for once.
I do love my dog and I am glad she’s in my life, but we could probably have done without this additional complication in our lives right now. I haven't done any of the admin or other stuff I've got to do on my to do list (and I've just realised how close the new series of RHLSTP is- it was actually meant to start next Monday originally) and there doesn't seem to be a spare second when I can do it. Not that it was meant to have happened now. We thought we’d be in the house and have the dog back in July, but there’s work still going on around us and now there’s a wet dog running through the house and messing up our new carpets. But we anticipated that the carpets would be trashed by kids and animals (and also, it turns out, I am terrible at wiping my feet), so they are not too fancy and are all bleachable.
Catie and Phoebe finally joined me in the house today, though we were all holed up in the guest bedroom tonight. I just hope little Donkin Booz Herring doesn’t decide to make an early appearance in the next couple of days. With another week I reckon I can get enough stuff unpacked and put in place to make the house liveable with two kids and a dog. But the effort of all the exercise, plus being back on a calorie controlled diet and the strain of the training took it out of me today. Thank God I have minimal work to do at the moment. It’s almost like I planned one thing right.
And weirdly I turned on the back light when Wolfie was out in the garden doing her final wee and the magic lamp post didn’t light up. So it must have been magic last night. Or my imagination.
I made Catie some pasta and we ate it in bed with Phoebe just about managing to fall asleep in time for us to enjoy it. I had a glass of red wine, taking my first step on the road to countryside alcoholism.

The fourth and final part of Relativity went out today. You can catch up with the whole series here.

And RHLSTP with Arthur Smith is now out on video
