I made a scale model of my tumour out of my daughter's play dough so I could show the viewers of RHLSTP how big it was. It was pretty big, but it also made me question whether this was an appropriate use of play dough. It wasn't totally unbelievable that I hadn't noticed this huge mass until January (and to be fair there is no way of knowing how quickly it had grown) but it was still impressively stupid. I don't know how or if the ball functioned with its centre hollowed out and replaced with yellow play dough. I wish they'd let me keep the play dough. That stuff is expensive.
Oh wait, it wasn't actually play dough.
It was a daytime RHLSTP (without a Twitch audience) and if I am honest I preferred it to the night time ones. I also did the John Oliver one in the afternoon and there's something nice and relaxed about it. It's been fun to do these on Twitch during lockdown and nice for people to be able to see them live, but I think that the next couple will be the last live ones from home (though I think I will carry on doing remote ones occasionally to make sure there are no gaps). Mae Martin was the guest and she was just as cool and charming as you'd expect. I always liked her stuff, but catching up this week has made me realise what a major talent she is: great stand up, writer and actor. I found this clip of her performing a character when she was 16  and it's very impressive and assured. In fact it's a bit too good for the audience who seem confused as to whether it's a real or a character (even though the name of the act and the character are different).
We chatted and riffed and chucked around fanciful theories about space and physics. I asked some new emergency questions and they went well. It was fun and I was, as usual, buzzing afterwards, but I didn't have to go straight to bed and had the rest of the day to let the adrenaline die down. It will be out on May 19th.

We've started re-releasing classic old episodes of RHLSTPs for newbies (unsurprisingly people are often overwhelmed by the back catalogue and don't search through) or just for people who have listened, but not for years and so have forgotten everything that happens. The first one had to be Stephen Fry, but very much looking forward to revisiting my favourites and letting you know my own memories of the recording. Listen here.
