I woke up dizzy again and this time it stayed with me all day. I am pretty sure it’s just holiday exhaustion - when will there be a holiday from being a parent? - but I took a Covid test this evening just in case. It was negative.
It’s not quite like the benign positional vertigo I suffered from a few years back. If anything it's more like the after effects of chemo, though I don't think I was ever quite this dizzy.  Of course after the year I’ve had every creak and pain and unusual feeling is a slight cause for concern. But I am pretty sure that I am just run down and a little stressed.
Luckily I have a scheduled check up appointment with the oncologist on Thursday. They are looking after me well.
I got an advance copy of Bob Mortimer's book ahead of his RHLSTP appearance and it's off to a flying start. Although his medical emergency was more serious (well, maybe that's something we can debate on the podcast - is open heart surgery worse than losing a body part?), there were lots of similarities in our experiences, including both of us having a little cry near the start and also neither of us immediately understanding that the prognosis was actually pretty favourable.
My favourite bit so far is Bob being distracted about why the sink in his GP's office is so low. The true genius comedy brain (and Bob might have the truest and most genius of all of them) spots the details that others might miss or just dismiss and then investigate them thoroughly. His theories on what's happened are brilliant, as is his GP's refusal to discuss what happened.
Despite my wooziness, I had to do a bit of "work" as I was recording an episode of The Froth with Rhod Gilbert and Sian Harries. Luckily as long as I am sitting still then the spinning stops and I was capable of carrying out a conversation (so as long as I can get to the Leicester square Theatre on Sunday without falling over then I should be fine to do the show). Unluckily they were having terrible technical trouble at their end and the feed cut down so often that we decided to bail and try again another time. Hopefully they can salvage some of the stuff we've already done and it's always fun to chat to those two, so I wasn't too bothered.

My big plans for a day of writing were out the window and another month looks likely to pass without me finishing the first of the six Relativity scripts.  With only two months to write the rest. It should be OK. It will have to be.
I have, however, finally confirmed the second guest for the bonus RHLSTP we’re recording on the 29th August at 3pm at the Leicester Square Theatre, it’s the inimitable Barry Cryer. This one should be amazing and Barry deserves a big crowd (and will be all the funnier if he has people to play off) and it’s one for real comedy fans, so do come along if you can. We will be testing out the live streaming on this one. If you’re a badger you get it for free (check the secret area of rhlstp.co.uk for the link) and it’s also included in the series streaming pass. Half price if you’re a badger or if you become one. Links in the members’ area of rhlstp.co.uk!
