A quiet day of recuperation slightly warmed up by the news that Jane Root has confirmed she is leaving the BBC. Five years too late to be of any use to me, but I am glad that she is finally going. If only it were in disgrace.
I don't actually care all that much and think that in all likelihood I have had a better five years since TMWRNJ than I would have had if we'd ended up doing more (though one more series would have been nice I think).
Funnily enough it was only about four or five days ago that a piece of paper arrived that I had to sign in order to dissolve Fist of Fun Ltd, the company me and Stew set up in 1996 (I think it was a tax thing or something, though at the time everything we earned together was paid into it and we were then paid a regular wage, which at least prevented us blowing the limited amount of money we got on 1p chews and loose women).
Obviously nothing has been paid into the company for a good few years, and although it doesn't cost much to keep going I think both me and Stew would accept that it seems unlikely that we'll be working together enough in the future to warrant its existence.
It seems a neat coincidence that Root has resigned just as Fist of Fun officially goes out of existence; almost as if that's all she had been waiting for!
If only we had been that important to her!
I just can't believe it's been five years since we did that show. When did I grow old?!

Otherwise all that I achieved today was to write my entry for the Fringe programme, which means I've settled on the idea for the show and the title. Here's what I said (I only had 40 words, which is still 40 more words than exist in the script at present) -

"Richard Herring – “The Twelve Tasks of Hercules Terrace”.
Battling a mid-life crisis, the short, fat comedian (Talking Cock, TMWRNJ) attempts 12 improbable feats - from running the Marathon to killing the Loch Ness Monster – to prove that Hercules was a sissy. Who says there are no more heroes?"

Hope you'll all come and see it. Whatever it turns out to be!
