The hangover was lighter than I expected, but bad enough given that it took me over five hours to drive back from Brighton. I don't know why I constantly forget how hard it is to travel between West London and this lovely seaside town. But today was especially bad thanks to an accident on the M23 (though we stopped off at a service station to avoid that, so at least we weren't stuck in the traffic jam) and a bus breaking down on the Fulham Palace Road.
Despite some nifty use of back streets that got me a quarter of a mile further into the traffic, west London was in gridlock. I turned around to see if I could get round it, but seemingly at every turn there was cars going nowhere. Eventually by luck rather than judgement I managed to find my way to the Shepherd's Bush roundabout and from thence finally to my house. But it was 5pm and I had missed out on the chance to do any work on the book, which was a bit of a backward step.
I did at least have a conversation with my editor about the title and we've narrowed it down to three possibilities. Either:
Act Your Age, Not Your Shoe Size.
How Not To Grow Up
or
Confessions of a Kidult.

I think I like the first one best, but we'll see.
