My pensioner underground hoover mender delivered the goods today. I went to pick up my two Dysons, one with a new battery and one with a replacement button (even though Dyson don's supply that part). The man is a vacuum enthusiast and let me know all about the current state of parts and batteries. I liked him a lot. And it was cool to have some working hoovers again. I even did some hoovering.
But why do I keep getting things fixed when they just break again. I arranged for a different man to come round and work out what's wrong with the kitchen lights tomorrow. Something else will break once that's sorted. It's the circle of appliances.

Friday is a bit of more relaxed day when it comes to home schooling (by which I mean I consider TV, ipads and spinning the kids around as schooling). At the end of the day we had a mini disco. The dancing bits are going to be what I really remember from lockdown. That and me and my daughter sitting on me and us working together to get through the next level of Homescapes (or Homescaps as she calls it). I don't know how long our family will be able to all dance together before self-consciousness and coolness kicks in to stop it, but I hope it's a few years yet. My son marching along to the Proclaimers has to be seen to be believed. I doubt he can do 500 miles, but he looks like he wants to.

I prepped for tomorrow's RHLSTP at the Clapham Grand with NIsh Kumar and Lou Sanders (who will both be making their third appearances on the show). Someone on Instagram commented that it was a gig featuring three woke comedians. Nish is quite political for sure, but I am a 53 year old white man and Lou is a one off bundle of craziness. I don't really get why being woke is an insult as it's basically used as a way to say someone who doesn;t share your politics or is annoyingly not racist, but I think you'd struggle to find too much "woke" material in my stand up and pretty much take the piss out of everyone. Anyway I laughed at the guy and told him I didn't think I was really woke, but he insisted that I was on a journey and that one day I'd wake up and realise it. I told him that he was on a journey and one day he'd wake up and realise he was a cunt. He took this as proof that I wasn't funny. Which is weird because I thought it proved I was.
It's interesting to see how much shit Nish gets - it might be because he is sometimes political, but there seems to be an anger there that I've only seen reserved for certain guests I have on the show. Sophie Duker is another one. I wonder why people are so cross about these two. I can't see anything that connects them
My favourite comment came from a journalist who argued that Nish actually needed racism for his act to work and basically said that he encouraged it in order to further his career.
Hard to argue with that... it's definitely Nish that is the racist there.
