Back to reality and very much looking forward to seeing my girls, but after getting to bed at 2am I wasn’t up til 10 and they were on their way out to swimming (and Phoebe was asleep), so I had to wait a little longer to cuddle my daughter. Unsurprisingly I was a bit blasted throughout the day. I have one day off and then another run of 5 gigs, so this is one of the busiest parts of the tour. (Wycombe, St Albans, Folkestone, Bristol and Cheddar this week - Bristol is very nearly sold out, but there are tickets for all the others). I went for a run to pick up a missed parcel, but although I started energetically I only managed five minutes before I had to walk. My fitness has slipped, but I am also pretty exhausted.

Once I got home I tried to work on turning my old routine about arguing over the size of my penis with a one-night stand into a short film for AIOTM. I am going to be writing loads of new stuff, but I also want the series to show case some of my best (or more interesting) ideas and I thought this might be quite a filmic idea. It might not make it into the show, but I am planning to write loads and then work it out from there.

Then my family arrived home and so I got to play with my daughter who is able to totter around like a good un now, and though still a little bit ill and tetchy, is a lot of fun. She’s not a baby any more and it’s quite a shift to see her on her feet. I think she might have grown a bit in those five days too. We had some family over so she got squeezed and chased and then I looked after her and put her to bed. I wasn’t sure she’d noticed I was gone, or that I was back, but she gave me a lovely hug when she got off the potty this afternoon (there is no decorum about any human function and I like that). She hadn’t wanted to make a big deal of it before, or maybe was annoyed with me for not having been there, but finally I got a little admission that she likes me a little bit. And when she was meant to be going to sleep she was standing in her cot and pulling faces at me and laughing and I laughed  too. We’e a terrible influence on each other. It’s like I’ve split into two like a Fantasia broomstick, but instead of cleaning up spillages we’re going to create mayhem.

But Phoebe fell asleep and so did I for a little while, on the bed in her room. I woke up in time for a late dinner and we managed to watch an episode of “Fear The Walking Dead” (and I won’t be satisfied until a series has been made about every single person in the world who is affected by the zombie apocalypse). I was taking the night shift too, so hoped Phoebe might be as exhausted than me. As it turned out I woke up about 45 minutes before she did.

This week's Metro article is about how I've been playing a very easy version of Through the Keyhole over the last few months (in reality, it turns out, celebrities plaster their houses with images of themselves) .
