Hard Brexit had turned into long, hard Brexit and might that not be the solution. We only voted to leave, we didn’t say when we were going. How about we set the date for 50 years time. It will give us a chance to sort out all the trade agreements without having to rush them and plus when the 50 years is up we can just have a double checking vote that this is still what we want. Everyone will be happy then, right?

Necessity is the mother of invention and as I always found with AIOTM scripts, what seemed hopeless and empty suddenly comes together (at least a bit) and this evening, after struggling to get going in the morning I found the thread that linked my ideas together. One of the connections was so obvious that I can’t quite believe that I had been struggling to spot it earlier. But it’s nice when the callbacks occur to you naturally rather than being forced - though this particular one was so obvious that I don’t think anyone would believe it wasn’t contrived. You’ll maybe see when episode 3 airs. Whenever that is.

Anyway there’s a Macbeth theme to look forward to in this one. But still plenty of wank gags, so no need to panic.

I am mildly regretting the workload I have put myself under.

It was nice to get out for the afternoon, even though I was a bit distracted by what I hadn’t done. It was a joint birthday celebration for my wife and her brother, which after a tough month for the family was a welcome bit of happiness. I had a salted caramel martini for dessert, which combines many of my favourite things. Maybe it was that that gave me the kick to get through the evening. You can never tell if booze will inspire you, or send you to sleep. I had a beer for the final hour or work in the hope it might do both, but the late night inspiration just meant that I was unable to get to sleep as  I lay awake thinking about what I had to do, aware that I was doing the early morning and that I haven’t yet slept past 6.15am since the clocks changed. Huge day tomorrow too with podcasts with Tom Davis and Tony Robinson.

It’s lucky that my daughter just makes me laugh. Even when she’s being shitty to me.

Latest cute baby achievement: Phoebe now slides down the stairs on her bum and after each step shouts “I did it!” Nothing funnier than this in the world.

So why do I try to write comedy when someone so new to the world can be amusing so effortlessly.
