I found out that the actor who plays Peppa Pig is called Harley Bird and tried to come up with a joke about the Harley Bird catching the worm all day, but I couldn’t manage it. How was your day?

Thirteen months without a deliberate drink of alcohol. I’d not really intended to give up for a year but somehow that had happened and then my wife was doing Dry January (though she seems to think month  is 28 days long, which is not true of any month this year) so I carried on. I thought I’d better have a drink tonight - not cos of us leaving the EU, but because if I don’t have one soon then I might never drink again. And we can’t have that.
I don’t think I am going to get back into drinking big time (cut to….) and I’ve enjoyed the lack of hangover and weird unsettled nights of sleep, but I was interested to see how one drink went down and if I still liked it and if it would affect me. So tonight I had a double Talisker (and that more or less finished the bottle, so I poured in the remains which might have made it nearly a triple) and sipped at it for a couple of hours as we watched, “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” (No, Richard E Grant, I can’t -it’s a really good film though). I enjoyed it. The first sip gave me a little buzz, but I didn’t get drunk. Nor did I feel like I wanted to go back to drinking all the time. It was just OK.My sleep was a little bit disturbed.
Anyway the good news is that I’m BACK and I am COOL again.

I threw a few stones into the Ditch that Ftopped Brexit on the dog walk, but apparently the magic powers have been defeated. I was in bed before we left the EU though and no one let off any fireworks in the village as far as I can tell.
I think we will be back. Whether I live to see it is debatable. Maybe we need this in order for the country to get its actual position in the world into perspective. Maybe it’ll be a huge success.
Ha.
Very sad to leave the EU and that their response has been so much classier than ours - or at least the people here who wanted this so badly.
I just hope God is British and helps us out.
