“Many loved ones will die” is an interesting way to phrase it. Boris was talking to us all. Surely “Many of you are going to die” is the correct way to phrase it. If he was just talking to his healthy middle-aged and younger mates, then yes, it’s many of their loved ones. But talking to the whole nation?
Many of you are going to die and there’s not really anything we can do. Soz.
So the scary times continue and I have a feeling that we’re pretty screwed whichever experts we believe. I did find the arguments of attempting to manage the spread convincing though. Everyone hiding in their homes for a month is probably not realistic and at this point might just postpone things and create something worse. I will trust the experts on this. It would be a good outcome if we went back to trusting experts. But it still means most of us are going to get this and some of us are going to die - but more of us will die if we all get it at the same time.
I was meant to be going into town tomorrow for a meeting, but the place we are going to is not opening, so we are having the meeting via a google hangout. To be honest this suits me fine. There will be some technical stuff to discuss and it might have been better if we’d been in the same room, but I am not wasting 3 hours travelling and can do the meeting with no trousers on.
I’ve also got quite a lot of writing to get on, so I have some work to make up for the work that I might be losing or postponing. Though all are still going ahead as I write. We are reverting to releasing one podcast a week again, just in case we have to cancel shows. But if so I will also be looking into ways of doing more interviews without an audience. I don’t want you in the position of self-isolating with no podcasts to listen to and as I produce over half the podcasts available in the world, it is my duty to carry on.
I am still wiped out from my busy weekend (plus a few unforced early mornings) and fell asleep this afternoon and then went to bed at just after 8pm. That isn’t one of the symptoms of Coronavirus though. I would prefer to get it out of the way now though if possible.
