I am staying alert.
I think I saw some virus trying to get in the back gate, so I made my whole family drink bleach and now the virus can’t get us. Don’t be an idiot. Stay alert like me. The virus can’t kill you if you are already dead. Stay one step ahead of he virus.
We went for another long Sunday walk, though it was blustery and cold and we got dirt blown in our faces and the kids wanted to go home. Still the highlight of the day though.
Not true. The highlight was me coming up with a new TV format called “Bumming For Gold” which is a bit like Going For Gold but instead of answering questions, people from all over Europe have to bum each other and the best one at bumming wins.
It’s probably for post lock down to be fair.
And the idea only came from me changing the Going For Gold lyrics to
"The Heat is on,
The Time is right,
It’s time for you, for you to play your game
People are coming, everyone’s bumming
Trying to bum, the best that they can
When they’re going for going for Gold”
This might seem a spurious reason to create a TV show, but we something like eight weeks into lockdown and it seems pretty genius to me. Though really it should be called “Going For Bronze”.
You’d watch it.

I spent my evening attempting to wryly comment on the 1990 version of Total Recall on Twitch whilst about 180 people watched along at home. But mainly I just enjoyed the film and getting tipsy. It’s pretty good and beyond the bit where he says, “You think this is the real Quaid… it is!” there isn’t that much to take the piss out of. You can still watch along if you can source a copy of the film. My commentary is here.
It’s not as much fun when the film is actually quite good, but there are some questions about why certain things happen and whether the film is all a dream or reality. I am not sure we quite get to the bottom of it.
Next week I am doing “The Cobbler” which I feel I might have more to say about.
The backstage interview with Michael Palin is up in the badger secret area of http://rhlstp.co.uk. He improvises a whole new scene to Life of Brian. It’s worth £3 a month on its own but there’s tonnes of other cool stuff there, plus you get badges and a membership card and stand up shows and entry into a monthly draw to win valuable junk from my office. Sign up here for £3 a month (or more if you like or want a rarer badge)
Michael’s RHLSTP will be up for free on Wednesday (Badgers get it ad-free and on Tuesday).
