We ran 11 miles (nearly 18km) in 1:51:40 this morning. It was a lot easier than last week's 12km run, but unsurprisingly I was pretty knackered throughout most of the rest of the day. Bombed through the 10km in the hope I could hit 10km in under one hour, but only got to 9.9km in that time. Hoping the excitement of running with others will mean the pace will be faster on the actual race. Only 3 weeks to the half marathon, but I think we're in good shape. Sponsor me here.

Many fitting tributes to Alan Hawkshaw, the composer who wrote, amongst other things, the theme to Grange Hill, Countdown and the Channel 4 News. None of the tributes mentioned that he also wrote the theme to Give Us A Clue. It was one of the confusing things from my childhood that somehow two TV shows had the same theme tune. How did that happen? Surely all theme tunes were written specifically for the show they were on. I had no idea about library music or that someone could sell the same theme tune twice.
It struck me that it would be funny if it was only in his death that  people realised that Alan Hawkshaw had only ever written one tune and somehow manage to sell it multiple times without anyone noticing. That we all went back to listen to the Countdown theme and realised it was the Grange Hill music or that the Channel Four News was that same tune, just with someone singing "Channel Four News" over it.
Alan Hawkshaw had hoodwinked us all, hiding in plain sight, even insisting on a sausage being thrown across the screen at the same point in each TV show, as an additional clue that no one had spotted. It would be such a funny piece of music to have sold over and over again. Without anyone realising.
