I got away with three points and a £60 fine for my recent Welsh speeding infraction, but was warned by a cab driver I spoke to that I could get a three point fine if any of my tyres were not legal. And that's per tyre. Which means if all four of your tyres don't have the necessary tred then you can be banned from driving there and then. As a man with six points on my licence, just two crappy tyres could see me taken off the road.
I haven't had my tyres changed for a couple of years and got this info a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to pop into Kwik-Fit to get them checked, but have been putting it off.
Finally got round to it this morning to be informed that three of my four tyres were not up to standard. So lucky for me that no over-zealous traffic warden or policeman caught me out. But let that be a warning to any of you law breaking car owners out there.
I fought the law and I won, though the law did get £60 out of me and I am now just two infractions away from the law winning the war.
