I think we got one of the best scenes in the script completed this morning (to be accurate we didn't finish it until just after lunch). Basically it involved a play fight (which may be familiar to the few of you who saw my play "It's Not The End Of The World") between me and Robert Dawes with some slapping and headlocks, followed by a drunken semi-breakdown by the wonderful Rebecca Front.
But due to the repetitive nature of filming Robert and I had to go through our slap-fest about ten to fifteen times and though it was all in fun, after a while punches and falling to the ground starts to hurt. Funnily enough it actually hurts more slapping than being slapped. I am gonna be bruised in the morning.
I was quite fortunate one point as when Robert pushed me I slipped on a spoon on the floor and the base of my spine hit the kitchen work-top. Luckily I was not seriously hurt, but I came close to being the new Brandon Lee, but one with a bad back, instead of being all shot and stuff. But it's similar.
Hopefully it was worth all the extremely slight discomfort, as I think the finished scene should be pretty funny. It's no way for grown men to behave.
On the drive between base and the location every day we pass a shop in the town called "The Non-Stop Party Shop". As we drove by early this morning I was satisfied to note that it was closed.
