Saturday 6th October 2007

I had a go on a see-saw today for probably the first time in two or three decades. I can't remember the last time I was on a see-saw. I was with my friend Buster who is 3. I am also friends with his mum, otherwise it would be a bit weird. A 40 year old man can't be friends with a 3 year old boy in 21st century Britain without knowing his parents. What a sad indictment of our society that such a thing must necessarily be suspicious. It's good to have a 3 year old friend. It gives you a perspective on life. Plus it's an excuse to have a go on playground equipment that it would seem strange to be using if you were with another 40 year old man. Why are the rules on these things so tight?
Anyway it was great fun being on a see-saw again and surprisingly exhilarating. Luckily Buster's mum was on the other end of the see-saw or it might have been a bit of an unbalanced affair. But we managed to get the thing flying and at times I was quite scared, which is quite an embarrassing when a 3 year old is at the other end, just giggling. But I didn't cry and only screamed like a girl a couple of times. But mainly it was fun to do something that I hadn't done for so long.
