Sunday 18th October 2009

Gosh damn, today slipped away quickly. And though I did nothing except sitting down and trying to write show 2 of AIOTM I didn't get anywhere near enough done. Hopefully tomorrow morning I will be more rested and less stressed and stuff will come to me, but this is the very nature of this show. It's a hectic enough schedule even if I wasn't working on other things and darting up and down the country doing gigs, and there's no guarantee that it will be perfect. I have a few days to think about it, a day and a half to write it, half a day to rehearse it and then we do it. I am still confident I can knock something together (and luckily loads of things have occurred to me, which gives me some stuff to work with), but I think it will still be a week or two until the show hits its stride (or the wheels fall off). I thrive on the pressure and if it hadn't been for all the driving yesterday I am sure I would have done better today. We'll get there. Come along and see it if you can. Whatever happens the time will be filled and jokes will be attempted. Balloon boys (who'd have believed that that was a hoax?) and Hitler Moustaches should give me something to go on about. And I've just seen that Jan Moir is going to be questioned by the police about her Gateley article. It might just be the best show ever.
Or maybe not.
But I think I will take a chance on an early night and hope that inspiration strikes when the fear really kicks in.
As for me I am feeling like I am back at school and trying to do my homework at the last minute on Sunday, whilst watching the telly in the background. I feel that if I look round I will see my mum doing the ironing. I fancy I can smell fresh laundry. Maybe like Kurt Vonnegut I am capable of time travel. Wouldn't mind stepping back 30 years. It would give me a little bit longer to come up with this bloody show.
If you don't make it to the Leicester Square theatre then you should be able to hear whatever I have come up with on iTunes or at the British Comedy Guide on Tuesday morning. You'd think that having some kind of script would make this thing easier rather than harder. Wish me luck. I shall need it.
Maybe I should just pretend that a thief has stolen my laptop (though they'd be lucky to get £750 for my stuff). Or I could just pay the thieves £750 and use all Harry and Paul's ideas. I am sure no one would notice.
