Phew, turns out Brexit doesn’t really matter cos, we’ve fucked up the planet! Lucky break! I reckon we might just complete Brexit at the point where the human race wipes itself out completely. Hopefully it will be our last act. I wouldn’t want the UK to die as part of the EU. I hope the last British hand comes down stamping the form that will take us out.
At least we’re keeping ourselves nicely distracted from this inconvenient truth. Because as long as you don’t think about something then it can’t happen. We are an extraordinary species in so many ways, but continuing to be driven by profits, even though this will render our world uninhabitable must be the most extraordinary thing of all. I can’t really claim to be any better than anyone else. I am just trying to avoid thinking about the world we are forging for our kids and assuming some scientist will come up with a brilliant CO2 eating machine and species regenerator and flower pollinator that will save us. And if they don’t, then all this disaster shall be down to science.
I often think of the pompous oil painting of a slave owner in the slavery museum in Liverpool. He’s puffed up and proud of himself and must have thought - look at me, preserving my image and wealth for posterity, not realising this image would be used to stand for evil and selfishness within a couple of centuries. If there are any people or museums about the devastation to the climate and biology of our planet then it will be full of such exhibits - and yeah President Trump and businessmen will feature, but I reckon we’ll all be represented in there somewhere.
We knew we were destroying the world, but we carried on anyway.
So if this blog is in the museum can I just say, â€œSorry the future. But not sorry enough to turn off my central heating this mildly chilly May morning.”
One whole room of the museum will be videos of people smugly enjoying the sunshine and saying â€œIf this is global warming then I’m not complaining”.
I’d do more about it, but I am actually quite keen for the human race to be wiped out. Shame we’ll take so many other species with us, but they are a few billion years to regroup and become something better without us.
All those movies about the people of the planet earth finally putting aside their difference to fight an alien menace, but the menace is all of us and we can only defeat it if we all combine and fight ourselves. Will we do it? I reckon so, but just that little bit too late to save ourselves.
We’re such dicks.

On we go though. I was putting the finishing touches to my new RHLSTP programme today. There’s still a few days at least to donate if you want to get your name in there. Donate at least £15 here and then email me your address and I will send you a signed and numbered programme when they’re ready. Please make sure that you put whatever you want to go in the programme as your donator name - lots of anonymous ones coming up at the mo, which I suspect are mainly in error.
