“Why are people stealing hospital supplies?” asked the BBC website today.
“Is it “Because they’re cunts”?” I asked.
I got no reply or prize so assume that I was wrong. Ah well, next time.

I thought I was safe in the countryside, but it seems the Coronavirus has found its way to our village in spite of our irregular bus service. My friend next door has it. But I think that now makes us safe, right. It would be too much of a coincidence if it hit in two houses so close to each other.
That’s just maths.

In an attempt to get some work done my wife and I have instituted a schedule where one day one of us has pre lunch to work and the other looks after the kids and then vice versa in the afternoon. I got the morning to work today, but everyone was up late (apart from me) and my time got squeezed (and the morning is really 9 to 12 whilst the afternoon is more like 1.30-6 (we have to walk the dog at lunchtime), so my working time was up before I’d got very far. But I’ve always thought if I could do 90 minutes of solid writing every day I would get everything I needed to do done and more).
I am close to having the introduction to the book written and had an idea for one of the 19 chapters. It’s a short book but I have to get it done by the end of May, so I can’t really dawdle.
I’ve cleverly turned the morning dog walk into “work” and did a stone clear in the snow today and accidentally discovered that I can flip between the forward facing and back facing cameras on Twitch which is LIFE CHANGING. And the snooker was back with the female me taking on the Messiniac Me, followed by me playing a bit of 1980s style Kevin Toms’ Football Manager and nearly 1000 people tuned in over the course of the night. It’s starting to take off. Both the early morning and evening broadcasts are pretty enjoyable I think, given they are all improvised over events with very limited outcomes. The snooker is genuinely quite tense, plus tonight you got me flirting with myself which was a sight to behold. Even Pornhub draws the line at that.
Football Manager took me back to the good old days of (I am guessing 1984) when I bought the cassette for my Acorn Electron in WH Smiths in Middlesbrough. Kevin Toms’ smiling face beamed out at me from the cover. Could I have dreamed that in just 36 short years Kevin Toms’ himself would be Direct Messaging me the link to download the game on to my iPad (I thought he might be giving me a free copy, but no, I had to fork up £2.99, but I did so willingly)? No I couldn’t have dreamed any of that as dreams are limited by your own imagination.
It’s a refreshingly simplistic game, though it took a viewer to remind me that I had to attempt to balance my team so it beat the opposition numbers that are displayed at the start of each game. To be fair I had very little choice about which team to field, though after a slow start I did start winning matches and York City are very much in the chase for promotion.
There is a place for retro-gaming on Twitch and I don’t like any games that have been created this millennium.

The teaching is going well, though having a two year old to deal with whilst it’s going on is though. Perhaps not as tough as having 29 more 5 year olds also to teach. But maybe tougher. Who can really say? Maybe teachers have it easy.
How long have we left to go? It’s been about two years now, right?  But it feels like longer.
