Not everything about the countryside is great, but there's loads of fun things that never happened in London. Next door has some chickens and over the last few weeks some of the newer unclipped ones have been escaping the garden and coming out into the road. One likes to come in through our front gate and strut around in the small area in front of our house. Sometimes she brings her friends.
I hadn't thought too much about it, but the lady who walks our dog at lunchtime has had to come through the front door for the last few days as the lock of our back gate is frozen and she pointed out that the chickens had been laying eggs in the corner.
I went out to have a look and there were maybe a dozen eggs waiting there for me. I don't know the legal situation here, but my guess is that eggs laid on my land belong to me (it makes little difference because my neighbour gives us free eggs if we want them anyway, but it's fun to get extra free ones). Sadly I don't know how long this has been going on and we probably can't eat any of these ones as they might be months old. But we will be checking that spot daily from now on to see if the egg fairy has been.
I mean maybe we should tell our neighbour who might be confused about where all his eggs are. Or maybe we should just sit back and cram the eggs down our gullets. I think there's a good chance he reads my blog, in which case, this is where your eggs are going. The ball is in your court.
My daughter turned six. I still can't believe that.
I had a really enjoyable old school knockabout RHLSTP with Iszi Lawrence tonight. Out in three weeks or check out the video on Twitch. A proper funny and fun one. Just when I feel like I want to get out, it pulls me back in again.
RHLSTP with Danny Robins (of the Battersea Poltergeist and Haunted podcasts and TWTTIN) is now up
