Wait, was I the handsome one? Why did no one tell me? It's too late now.

Apparently I could have played the young Brian Wilson too. Even I thought that that was me when I scrolled through BBC news.

Hope they don't check out that time I was on Have I Got News For You?

Confirmation that Trump would deport Jesus

I have been recording so many podcasts in the last few weeks that I can't believe we still don't have all the pre-Edinburgh ones done (though to be fair, we are saving some for September), but today I was back at the Podcast Room to talk to Glenn Moore, Jenny Colgan and co-creator of Goodnight Sweetheart Maurice Grann. Somehow doing three podcasts in four hours in this environment is nowhere near as tiring as doing two in front of an audience in one evening. They are a bit more relaxed and thoughtful, but it is possible to mess around and have fun too. The one with Glenn was full of tangents and stupid questions and disrespect (which somehow led to a couple of revelations that I hadn't known about), whereas with Jenny and Maurice I was more thoughtful. There's life in the old podcast yet.
Maurice is aware of the shade I've thrown at Goodnight Sweetheart over the years - I met up with him about 15 years ago to discuss the possibility of me doing a time travel sitcom back to the set of Goodnight Sweetheart - but he takes it all in the good fun that it is intended and he knows that it's a show that I secretly love and envy. Also when you look at his CV alongside Laurence Marks, you can only gawp in wonder about the range of ideas and success that they have enjoyed. From Shine On Harvey Moon to Birds of a Feather to Love Hurts to The New Statesman to Michael Winner film Bullseye (OK maybe not the last one).
And there could be more Goodnight Sweetheart, at least in book form, if this kickstarter is successful. I've bid to get my name in the book, so surely it's worth joining in just to see what they do with that!
I went out for coffee and a cake with Maurice afterwards and he told me some juicy stories that would probably have had to have been cut out of the podcast if we'd recorded them. Now I need to work out how to do a podcast where people tell all the stories that they would never put out in public. Maybe interview people on their death beds when it doesn't matter anymore!
