Every time anyone mentions Arlene Foster I unfailingly think they're talking about Arlene Phillips and am very confused. Every time. Seriously. Even when I have learned that it isn’t the same person. I forget.

Londoners are the best - much maligned by the rest of the country for being out of touch and privileged. Basically the opposite is true. We get on pretty well together and are forward looking and most people here are doing the best they can, with little money and everything being much more expensive. The recent attack on this city showed not only how cosmopolitan this city is, but also came with extraordinary and moving acts of bravery. When you think those fucking idiots who attacked us were apparently wearing bombs…. and they confronted the maniacs with fists and bottles and whatever came to hand.
But London comes together with small things too. We were getting the bus to my daughter’s football lesson this morning. It pulled up and we got on, but the driver said we had to get off as someone had been sick. He wasn’t delighted about it, but nor was he angry. He just got on with his job. The woman was sitting behind him looking awful. Another passenger told me that she’d felt ill at home, but had had to go to work and couldn’t afford to take the day off (there you go, privileged London). The other passengers got off the bus without complaint and were very sympathetic to the young lady and comforted her. The driver too, was aware he needed to head back to the depot so the bus could be cleaned, but he also asked the woman where she’d like him to drop her off.
That’s London for you folks. That’s all of London right there.
I tried to press on with my work and my chores in the afternoon, but my body had other plans and shut down and I went to sleep, waking up at about 6pm, very confused and thinking it was the morning. I had a gig to get to and hadn’t had time to prepare anything, but it was a low key affair and I got to 50 minutes with only a minimal amount of old material and I had a crack at some stuff that I hadn’t really had time to work on. Some of it went OK. Some of it went not OK. And it’s nothing like a show yet, but I feel confident that I can make it into a show in six weeks.
But I came home to watch a show that sets the comedy bar very high. John Oliver on Last Week Tonight on Brexit was funny, informative and also will make you think, what the fuck are we doing? The UK is literally insane. The line "pointlessly written on some cheese" made me laugh for a full five minutes and I really want Lord Buckethead to stand against Theresa May at the next election and for all the other parties to step aside to let him win, as he deserves.

Thanks to everyone who came to the THE BEST tour. We raised £13,289.13 for Scope in the bucket collection, taking us over £15,000 for this year’s total. This money can make a real difference, so well done to us all.
