Catie is back into doing stand up again. I first worked with her over 17 years ago and loved her act and also felt strangely comfortable and happy just standing next to her after the gig. I talked to someone else and when I turned around she had disappeared into the night like Cinderella. But she left behind a shoe and it took me a few months to track her down - the only person in the country who takes size 8 - apart from me - yes we can share shoes, why do you think I married her?
I drove us both into London this afternoon, me to go to the Bill Murray for my last tour show warm up there and her to the Museum of Comedy for a new material night. And though I wasn't entirely sure timings would work, as luck would have it, the show after mine was cancelled so I was able to do the full show, with interval and Catie was on in the first half and so we both got to Highbury and Islington within about 5 minutes of each other and I drove us home. I don't know if a couple of hours in the car counts as a date, but it is the longest time we've had to chat uninterrupted for quite some time, so I am going to count it.
No passing out in tonight's show - though the interval perhaps gives men the chance to compose themselves after the story of the operation, or at least to faint in the toilet. The first half was about the best I've done it, though possibly a touch too long and the second half faltered in places and I forgot some of the work I'd done on it today, but it's in good shape. The ventriloquism section is still in its very early stages and I am sure will expand and grow, but even so I think Right Bollock is the star of the show. It will be typical if even he goes on to have a better career than me when he goes solo.
A couple of tech issues - the plug of my laptop wasn't working and we nearly lost power, but luckily the battery warning sign was spotted in the interval and all my QR codes didn't work - I thought I'd found a site that did them for free, but that was a limited time offer and now they wanted £20 a month (at least) for me to use them. But the programme one was fine and we can obviously sort that out for the next gig.
If you missed the donation link at the gig and want to give some money to Movember, it's here.

An unpromising question perhaps, but a surprisingly revealing compendium of Emergency Question answers out today, including Michael Palin, Adam and Joe and of course Brian Blessed.
