I went to see a cracking school assembly featuring my son. The other parents will still talking about
his Maurice the Mule from Christmas term and I wondered if he might try a bit of that again - give the people want they want. But it was all new material. His highlight came as the class prepared to sing “We Will Rock You” with new lyrics like “drawing out pictures all over the place” and he shouted “Hit it!”
My other child would also prove their performing chops and once again outsmart me in tonight’s Twitch of Fun. I always think she’ll run out of ideas but her improvisation is strong and she’s always got a burn ready to go. Is it spoiling the show to have my daughter in, or is it spoiling it that I send her to bed after 7 minutes? I really don’t know. It feels like for those of you who don’t want to stick around for an hour, it’s a pretty good precis of what is to come.
Phoebe did say that if I died during the show she could just take my seat and I think that’s probably an accurate summation of what will occur. Would I be delighted or jealous if my kids were better comedians than me? Well it’s already happened and I am mainly delighted. These kids are certainly characters and I think that’s probably a good thing. First thing this morning Ernie asked me “Who has the cleanest bottom in the world?” And made me google it. Some things the internet can’t answer. He’s very good cat impossible questions. If your kids have any then do add them to @IQforkids on Twitter.
For future historians of Brexit, I have been to two different supermarkets this week and neither of them had broccoli. Which can only be the fault of Boris and co. Though apparently that kind of remainer mindset is what is really killing our country. I got some tenderstem broccoli instead, so it wasn’t that bad. Britain still works.
