I forgot the funniest thing from yesterday where my somewhat theatrical son (remember how this three year old claimed his sister had ruined his life) took umbrage at something that had happened (and it wasn't huge cos I can't even remember what it was) and ran to my wife and said "Put me back in the egg". He's aware that he grew from an egg inside his mum. But she clarified, "in my tummy?" and he said, "yes". I didn't think we'd get to "I didn't ask to be born" just yet, but also what an amazing way to express it. In that moment he really wanted to go back in.
We persuaded him that life was better than returning to the life of a human egg.
This was before we watched Soul yesterday afternoon, which is a deep dive into life and death and everything before and after. My daughter enjoyed it so much that she asked to see it again today and we were happy to comply. I know everyone is saying it, but it's well worth your time.
I was a bit under the weather today and had a bit of a sore throat at the start of the day, but it was only down to over indulgence and the living Hell of being solely responsible for our own kids for 10 days. I had a Lemsip and was OK again and I don't think that's a cure for Covid. Also we haven't been in the company of anyone else for over a week. We decided to take it relatively easy, though there were dog walks to do and I did the lunchtime one with the kids in tow, trying to spot various bits of nature as we went in the freezing cold. Yesterday I'd managed to get them out of the house for an hour, today my wife was disappointed to see us home in under half an hour.
So we watched films in front of the fire whilst trying to keep some vague control over our smallest child. We did some baking. And prayed for nighttime to come so that we could sleep.
But I had to play some snooker against myself before that could happen. After another dog walk and idly clearing some stones in the dark.
