Correctly predicted the score of today's Spurs match.

A solo long run today, listening to Katherine Ryan's audio book (ahead of Monday's RHLSTP record - still tickets available). I am much slower on my own and it was harder to keep going. I got a bit lost, then realised where I was and then went the wrong way anyway, but in the end just retraced my steps. I did 14km but had to walk a bit in the end, partly because the conditions were too wet and my running shoes were heavy with mud. I was out there for almost two hours.
Ryan's book is admirably honest and open, sometimes feeling almost too personal, but never without good reason or to make a point and she's as scathing about her own mistakes as other people's. I wondered about whether it was a good idea to discuss cutting off a family member who became an unpleasant and unstable alcoholic, but it's actually a very important chapter. It's important to realise that sometimes when someone goes off the deep end and treats you too badly that you are not only within your rights to remove them from your life, but it's actually an important step to do so. I am a huge admirer of Katherine's philosophy, work ethic and also her commitment to the comedy community and it's good to find her in a happy place relationship wise. By her own admission she made some big mistakes with people she chose to be involved with before. But hey, I can identify with that.
It's only a little over a month to the half marathon now and though I am fairly confident I will get round, I did find it tough on my own today. It's amazing how being with someone else both ups the pace and the staying power. I will be doing the race with hundreds of people so if my maths is right I should be able to do it in a thousandth of the time.
And though it was nearly two hours of Hell and heavy legs and squelching through mud, it was a valuable two hours alone. The rest of the day was the usual maelstrom of play. Running is pretty much my only time alone now. Apart from shitting.
We tried to get the kids into Indiana Jones, but there were too many boring bits, in between the action and skellingtons and Alfred Molina getting spikes through him and they didn't stay engaged and got a bit scared. So we watched a Sabrina teenage witch rip off about young witches which the kids weren't scared of at all. What's wrong with their brains.
We started watching Seinfeld from the beginning. It's not a great start, compared to later shows, but you can still see you're dealing with something special, even if it looks a hundred years old now.
We had an early night in the faint hope we will manage to conquer exhaustion before the kids turn 18.
