Tour fact - Cambridge 17th Feb (fewer than 20 tickets left)
Paul Cambridge was in my class at school. Because he was one of the hard kids he went by convention that he was known by his dad's name - Tom. I'm glad I was one of weak kids or I'd've been Keith. (though ironically my dad's first name is actually Tom too) - sorry, it turns out there are no facts at all about the city of Cambridge.

TOUR STARTS THIS WEEK - NORTHAMPTON on Thursday and DORKING on Friday (lots of tickets available for both shows. Spread the news!) -

And there's a brand new podcast to accompany Oh Frig I'm 50 tour, which I can hopefully do weekly. Get it at BCG  or subscribe on iTunes. Will try to give regular updates - just have to get into one confrontation with a person from a different job each week.

I can't quite believe everything is kicking off again so soon. I've been sitting back thinking I've got ages to read Adam Kay's book, but it's been sitting in a box in my office until today. And I almost didn't get it out today because with one thing and another. by the time I sat down to do my reading I realised it was 2.30pm and it was time to pick my daughter up from nursery. Who had stolen my day? I don't know. I assume gas is still leaking into the house and wiping out all my time.
I did start to read the book “This Is Going To Hurt” when I got back. My new year's resolution was to read 20 books, but I only got about halfway into the Stalin one, before exhaustion meant I couldn't concentrate any more (I hope to return to it) and this is only the second book I have picked up. It's a cracking read and not quite as complicated as the history of 1930s Russia. It's basically Adam's diary from when he was working as a junior doctor and it is very compelling and vivid. Not that I needed much help feeling like someone who'd worked a 72 hours shift.
Anyway, it's already a great and slightly terrifying read and includes a horrendous penile injury that even I had never heard about or imagined. But it serves up a lot of truths about the state of the NHS and I am glad Adam managed to squeeze a diary into his busy schedule. It's better than this one. And I haven't saved anyone's life. But to be fair, no one has died either.
Anyway glad to start book 2 of 2018 (but it's finishing them that counts) and very much looking forward to talking to Adam about this book and his impressive comedy career.
