Another early trip into London, this time to appear on Dermot O Leary's show on Radio 2. Trains were fucked so I drove in and left early anticipating traffic and difficulty parking, but it was plain sailing and Great Portland Street had loads of spaces. It's in Westminster which supposedly means I only have to pay for ten minutes in my electric car to be allowed to park for the full four hours. But the apps never acknowledge this and I was too nervous to risk it, so spent £10 more than I needed to. Next time though.
There was a buzz of excitement in the studio as Nicole Scherzinger was the guest on before me and we were invited to the production booth to watch her chatting. Her jewellery looked very expensive and the diamond in her engagement ring was about the size of my admittedly small hand. I didn't get to talk to her, but she shot me a few looks and I am pretty sure she was thinking "Don't I wish my boyfriend was hot like him." Sorry Nicole, join the back of the queue. Oh hello, you got to the front quick. The others are probably in the toilet or something.
I brought some much needed glamour to the studio and enjoyed talking to Dermot, who I have met maybe once before (though he thought we might have met socially, but I don't think I move in his circles) on Big Brother's Little Brother. He's a good interviewer and had done a bit of research, and it was nice that he pretended to recognise me or know who I was.
Back home and I spent most of the rest of the day looking after the kids while Catie worked on the charity stand up show we were both doing for the village nursery tonight. She was compering and was a little bit nervous, but had been fastidiously preparing. I was nonchalant and barely looked over my notes. I was glad to be doing a spot, rather than hosting, but didn't know what my neighbours would make of 3 minutes about cancer and balls.
Catie was brilliant, being particularly rude in her section before I came on, mainly about me and my snoring and shoddiness. I came on as said I've shagged her!.... Twice. Two kids. Well actually just once, but she said my sperm was so virile that it had hung around in her for two and a half years to make the second one."
It was a good night with great sets from Matt Green and Glenn Moore, though I ducked out early as I have an early start to get to Newcastle for tomorrow's gigs.
And another guest announced for the tour. Jeff Innocent will be my guest on 2nd November in Norwich.
