We're watching Yellowstone season 1 at the moment, a little behind the curve. It's Succession in cowboy hats (as I am sure someone will have said at some point, depending on whether this or Succession came first. If Succession came later then that's Yellowstone without cowboy hats). We're quite enjoying it, but I think they're somewhat overdoing the mortal jeopardy. (spoilers) Pretty much every ten minutes someone dies or nearly dies and the child has a busy couple of days where he's nearly killed by a snake and falls in a river. His uncle has been murdered, his aunt has killed herself, his mum gets punched in the face and I don't know if she lives or dies, his dad has killed four people this week (and that's just directly) and nearly been eaten by a bear. I think it's all happened in the same month or maybe the same week. It's a bit too much. Sure they live in a dangerous place, but you'd think they'd be a bit more careful if mortal incidents happened quite so often.
I still like it, even though it makes me consider the constant fear of parenthood, that you have to keep your stupid children alive and even if you successfully do that you are haunted by the possibility that you may fail to do so in the future. It's the horrible flip side to love, that possibly is the thing that makes the bond of love so strong - the fear of loss is just so horrible. My mum told me that as a parent, even when the sky is blue there's always a cloud on the horizon and she'd right about that.
I don't need any help in considering these possibilities, though Yellowstone seems to want to give me some. But as long as I don't confront men doing bad things in the desert, put my son in a snake filled tube or let him go and gather wood by a strong river (which I definitely wouldn't) then hopefully I'll be OK.
It's a fairly gripping show, but the constant jeopardy, high death rate and unlikeability of everyone in it is making me unsure about continuing. But sometimes you see a lady's bum, so I expect that will keep me on board, as it's very hard to see lady's bums anywhere else.

What a wonderful podcast day. The RHLSTP with Bob Mortimer that we recorded in January is now up and it's as beautiful as you'd hope.
This is not the one we did in Hull which will not be broadcast as Bob wanted to talk freely without worrying about the press misinterpreting something he said. That one was good too though, obvs.
