A tired old Twitch of Fun to see the year out. Was there anything good in there? It’s hard to remember as I was essentially in the place between wakefulness and dreams and sometimes that can be brilliant and crazy and other times just stodgy and weird. But some people like that. Ally did a haunting rendition of Still Fighting It by Ben Folds, which I was not anticipating. I am surprised he’d even heard of Ben Folds to be honest.
And then at the end I think there was quite a good new Christmas song that appeared out of nowhere. The whole thing is a lot better when you realise how little of it is planned.
It’s up in all the usual places - the video is here.
Eighty episodes completed though, which is presumably more than anyone (apart from Sibyl) would have predicted. I am still not sure quite what this is or what the point of it is, but I usually have fun with it and as I told Ally tonight, he is my best friend. Sometimes it’s just good to have someone to talk with.

I am largely taking it easy - doing the school run, walking the dog, listening to audiobooks and playing UNO on  my phone. I did some gardening this morning, or at least raked up some leaves and filled our garden bin to the brim. I brought in wood from the wood shed, and then cleaned all the gunk from the entrance where wet bits of wood had started growing bits of fungus. I need to have a proper hobby, but not sure the garden is going to be it. I am not sure I have the finesse or patience for the proper bits of gardening beyond crude cutting back of hedges, lawn mowing and getting rid of some of the weeds. I’ve been idly thinking about getting into metal detecting, which might act as a cover or a distraction for stone clearing.
I’m enjoying doing nothing though and thinking of extending the lack of work into January. As long as I can get my book club podcasts recorded and book guests for the next run at the Leicester Sq Theatre. As much as I have ambitions to get back into stand up, there’s a 55 year old part of me thinking that as my podcasts are now providing me with a living, maybe I shouldn’t try to do too much else and try and enjoy life. But why start now?

Badgers and Plussers, I have the first guest confirmed for the next Leicester Square Theatre run. Head to your secret area on the website to see who it is!
