The Flag Hagf won. That Kickstarter made more in 2 weeks than the Bawl Bags could manage in 4. But the good news is that both projects succeeded. So if you backed them you’ll get your rewards. And we will have thousands of pounds to donate to comedy clubs thanks to this latest one (not sure how much or which ones, but we will keep you informed - we have to take Kickstarter %, VAT and production costs off the £21,000, but that should leave us with a good chunk to donate). Thanks for this brilliant support.
It was Return of the Jedi day today and I had to prepare myself for the sight of some dead Ewoks. And that meant trying not to laugh at teddy bears being murdered in front of my children. Did the Ewoks set up all their traps and devices especially for this battle or were they just there already? They were very well prepared if it was the latter (and it has to be surely) and must have had thousands of the things. It can’t be that the baddies just happened to send their stupid tank with legs down the lane where the ewoks had tree trunks suspended on rope…
But the plan to rescue Han from Jabba seems pretty intricate too. Did they really know they’d get taken out to be executed in the Venus death pit thing? Surely there was a good chance of them just being shot in the head as soon as they were caught. I guess things just go right for these guys. It’s the force, right?
Still I thoroughly enjoyed the film, way more than I remember doing before (hold on, am I a nerd?), though noted that in this version when Anakin Skywalker appears at the end as a ghost he is now the younger version from the prequels. How does Luke recognise him? Isn’t he confused as to why there’s a handsome young man standing alongside the other old dead dudes (and why are they old versions of themselves)? Shouldn’t Anakin have to mime, “it’s OK, it’s me your dad. I just chose to appear as the young me” or put on the helmet so that Luke would understand. Luke doesn’t even seem confused for a second. It’s the force, I guess.
And Darth Vader leaves it a bit long to rescue Luke anyway. He could easily have been killed by the Emperor’s lightning hands before Darth decides to become good again. I’d really like to see the film where Darth Vader doesn’t die and Luke takes him back to the rebels and has to explain that he’s good now. Yeah, I know he killed loads of your relatives and blew up Alderney (as I nearly called it in the quiz yesterday) and stuff, but it’s all right. He’s good now.
Are you sure Luke?
Yeah, I mean he left it as late as possible to be good and he’s played all those tricks in the past, but I am sure he’s trustworthy now, right dad?
Did you have to bring him to the actual base though?
I think he’d be treated a little frostily at least.
At least Leia got to do the “I know” back to Han, who turned out to be OK in the end, I guess.
And I don’t think any of the resistance really hold a grudge or seem to care if people die anyway.

My hot takes on Star Wars might be coming in a little late. But be very afraid, cos we're watching the Prequels next.
