Don't worry, we'll get through this, apart from the tens of thousands of us that won't.
It seems God is pretty pissed off at the UK right now, combining mutated Covid with hard Brexit. It's pretty hard to work out what we've done to upset him. Not because we haven't done anything wrong, because there's so much choice.
Luckily we have great and competent leadership to see us through and not just some chancers who leave everything to the last minute and hope for the best.
Fantasy and reality are about to smash into each other and you'd think when something real and something pretend hit each other there would be no consequence. But it will be an explosion of even more bullshit. What a time to be alive.
I know things are tough, but my kids slept in til 7am today, so I am happy.
I was woken from a dream where I'd just discovered that I was the new Doctor Who. Not a dream where I was actually acting in Doctor Who or a dream where I was actually Doctor Who, both much more exciting and possible things in the land of dreams. No, a dream where I got the news that I was playing Doctor Who. How dull are my fantasies that this is what I chose to dream about.
And I found out at the same time as everyone else. They hadn't asked me, we hadn't filmed anything. It was just on the news that it was going to be me and apparently I didn't have any choice in the matter. Now I'd quite like it if that was the way decisions were made - at random and without advance warning. You just found out you'd got an acting job or were to be the next Prime Minister and you had to drop whatever else you were doing and get on with it.
I am not sure I'd be a good Doctor Who, though I am fairly confident that I could be a better Prime Minister than any of the last three. And though random choice of Doctor might ruin the franchise, I think chances are that random choice of PM would make things better. It might be much much worse. But it's doubtful. I suppose America tried it and it didn't work out great though.
As it was the dream world had chosen to make me the Doctor and rather than this being about the excitement of getting a big job and messing around in time and space, I just dreamt about being uncertain that this was a good decision and feeling annoyed that that I had been projected to a level of fame that I didn't want. And why? Presumably because I'd impressed the producers with my wanking in a bush acting.
Still a less stupid fantasy than the one going on in a lot of people's heads right now re Brexit and Covid.
Still hoping that something has happened that has turned my dreams into reality and reality into dreams. Things make a lot more sense that way round.
I did the draw for the first round proper of the winter snooker tournament today, with 32 names in the hat and tonight saw the first two Mes progressing to the second round. You'll be able to catch up on youtube or wherever you get your podcasts.
I also started putting together a special Twitch of Fun to go out on Christmas Day
Bruce Dessau has given The Problem With Men a nice write up, here.
