Warming Up

Saying you haven't ever heard of someone who other people are talking about is a bit of a self-own isn't it? Keep up grandad.

Over breakfast my not quite seven-year-old daughter used the phrase "Eye for an eye”. I think they're been learning about religion in school but it's an odd phrase to suddenly hear from someone so young. She then explained that what it meant was that if you take out someone'e eye then they will take out your eye and put it in the head of the person you took the eye from. So if you take someone's eye, they get your eye. Seems fair.

Similarly if you knocked out someone's tooth, they'd get to have one of your teeth in its place. I am not sure how I would feel having my body full of bits from someone who had hurt me. Chewing food with their tooth would be a constant reminder of the attack. Plus if you have someone else's eye people would probably keep asking you why your eyes were so different and one of them was just a dead lump of tissue floating around in your eye socket. Which would also be triggering. But if that's what the Bible says then I guess we have to go along with it.

Quite dispiriting looking for news stories for tonight's Twitch of Fun. Pretty much everything is about the collapse of democracy and the embarrassing mess the UK has got itself into by electing a fucking idiot into power.  I remember we used to laugh at Italy when Berlusconi was in charge. Now all politicians are Berlusconi. Rudi Gulliani has been on the Masked Singer. I wonder if there had been reality TV in the 1940s whether the surviving Nazi leadership would have ended up on I'm A Celebrity. Ally gave a spirited speech about how we have to move back to a fair society, but I doubt the public would ever vote for a 130 year old ventriloquist dummy, who to be fair, would be very much swayed by whoever was advising him.

The show will be up as a podcast and YouTube video on Friday as usual. I am off filming next week, so there will be no Twitch shows for a week.
