What the Hell? Two excellent family holiday days IN A ROW! Even two days not on holiday where nothing has gone wrong and everyone has had fun is a rarity (has it EVER happened?). But on holiday?
All this after two terrible night's sleep as well.
I must be dreaming. Or at least I'd think that if I'd managed to get any sleep.
We went to Tapnell Farm, an activity centre/farm. We've done lots of this kind of thing before, but this is a really great one, with fun activities, cafes with OK food that aren't too expensive and enough to do that we didn't leave until kicking out time. The best activity was some bikes that you could ride round a small Grand-Prix style track which the kids loved. It felt a little bit dangerous (we saw three crashes in the first five minutes, one with a lad coming off the bike at quite some speed) but that just added to the fun. Adults were joining in on this one and I did a few circuits, but was unable to keep up with Phoebe.
Catie and Ernie went in the Maize maze, but failed to get to the centre, but Phoebe and me then had a go and with a bit of persistence got to the flag. I love it when we achieve together. We also found our way out which is maybe a greater challenge.
Then we went to
a pub called the Taverners in a place called Godshill (which didn't come up on our sat nav even with the postcode) and the kids tried eating whitebait and also kale (as well as their own more kid friendly meals) and seemed to enjoy them (though Phoebe baulked a little at eating an entire tiny fish). I was an incredibly fussy eater as a child, so am amazed to see my spawn giving this stuff a go and even going back for seconds with the kale (which I think is a bit of a stretch to call a food, even as a 56 year old who eats anything). Nice food, good service and the village may not appear on the maps, but it looked like it might be a fun place to explore.
Anyway, we didn't do anything special, but the success of a second consecutive day feels very special. Can we go for three?
