Packed up and out of our very nice air b n b and at the ferry in time to listen to the Lionesses take the lead. And home by lunchtime without. stopping for a wee (until with 3 miles to go Ernie had to have an Al fresco one).
Phoebe made funny videos in the back of the car, having found a way to animate them in a basic way. Ipads make car journeys with kids a pleasure. I wish we'd had them in the seventies.

And life was back to normal pretty quickly. The kids and I did some weeding in the garden. Well I did some weeding and the kids dug holes in the lawn, which it seems is mainly weeds. I went to the supermarket and then made a big chilli for Catie and me, which turned out pretty nice (luckily, as we'll be eating it for a couple of days). It's the same recipe (though now from memory with a couple of personal touches) that I've been doing since I was a veggie student, so that's nearly 40 years of chilli making. It can still be a bit variable to be honest, but I got the chilli ratio basically right today - one green, one red and a random amount of chilli powder (plus various other seeds and spices). Used to go hotter back in the day, but this was just warming enough for a 56 year old man who shouldn't really eat spicy food after 1pm.
Not a very funny entry so I asked my son for a joke. He said "Why did the toilet roll roll down the hill? To get to the bottom." Ernie explained that it's a joke and a burn on the toilet roll.
