Who says AI would never work? Thanks to John Roughton for the find. I checked my bank balance and that's not me in the picture. And I am pretty sure I've never said anything like the attributed quote. Also why have I quoted myself in the quote that I never said? "I once said"
Still as I once said, all publicity is good publicity. And you can quote me on that. But only if you include the "Still as I once said" In fact you can include this whole paragraph in the quote. And furthermore, garlic bread.
I am slightly dumbfounded by how much weight I managed to put on on holiday. I didn't even drink alcohol! Though did have quite a lot of fruit juices, non-alcoholic beer, ice cream, pizza and bread and did no exercise. Even so I am impressed with my body's ability to put it away for a rainy day. I am heavier than I've been for about a decade.
A good incentive to return to a healthier lifestyle (before my organs strangle themselves with fat) and this morning Phoebe and I went for a short run up the hill to the Post Office. Again I surprised myself with how far my fitness levels have fallen since the Spring (admittedly my lurgy and work have stopped me exercising, but you'd think I could do a five minute run without wheezing like an asthmatic member of the band Weezer.
It is a pretty steep hill, but I was out or breath almost immediately and it was made worse by the fact that my 10 year old daughter was practically able to dance up the hill without breaking a sweat. If she hadn't been there I would probably have turned round or just walked up the hill to post my letter, but I couldn't let her know what a failure her father is (I think she might have twigged from my red face and inability to speak). And I made it, slowly, all the way up and once we'd posted the letter and bought some Kitkats (for the kids - I am strictly a Solero only man now) we ran down the hill, which was a lot easier and we had a sprint at the end to see who could get home first (and it was only just Phoebe) so maybe all is not lost. I just have to make sure that all my runs are downhill.
The most exciting thing about our return is that the corn we've been growing in our garden is now ripe for the picking. We picked these seedlings up on a whim when we were getting stuff for the garden and they have grown into fucking Triffids. I hadn't really expected these to flourish, but they've done better than anything else and now the cobs are mostly ready to harvest. I don't know how cost effective it is as the plants we have will maybe give us 15 cobs, but it means so much more if you have grown them yourself. We had the first two for lunch today. No butter cos I am healthy, but also they were so fresh and sweet you didn't need any. What a thrill! I may become a farmer.
