Snoozing in bed early this morning, I heard my son (who I guess was out in the corridor alone waiting for someone to wake up) sneeze and then sweetly say "Bless me".
Sometimes you need to bless yourself.
It's so lovely to start the day giggling uncontrollably. He came into the bedroom to see what I was laughing at. Maybe it had been his plan all along.
It was my turn to look after the kids today, though as Phoebe had a play date it was mainly Ernie and me. It was a lot of fun hanging out with this self-blessing idiot. He is very keen on coming up with jokes - he treated us all to an improvised stand up set yesterday, waiting behind the curtain in the lounge before coming on holding the mic from our Switch karaoke game. His stream of consciousness jokes and accidental prat falls had us in hysterics. He couldn't quite understand why we were laughing so much, but was delighted that we were. He will never forget that feeling. His destiny is set. There's no way out.
Sorry Ernie.
The jokes won't really translate to the page, but there was one about going to the dentist and him being shocked to see that the patient had income tax in his mouth. To be fair, it's about as good as Craven Newsround.
His latest joke that almost makes sense is "What happens if you put Italy in a frying pan over some hot fire? You get Sicily (sizzle-ly). I might use that one.
We went ten pin bowling, where Ernie renamed himself 6767676767676767676767 on the display (and was disappointed to score 77). He loves 67 so much. I guess it's because that was the year I was born and he respects me so much.
I went to bed early and just as I was falling asleep I sneezed. No one else was there. So I said "Bless me" and fell asleep smiling.
Somehow found time for a Newsround (oh yeah, cos you can see it takes me ages to prepare it) and it went to some places I wasn't expecting today. Ally is a very unpredictable co-host. I never know what he'll say next.
