I hadn't slept well again and had a pretty intense day of podcasting ahead of me, with the studio booked for four hours and four lots of interviews to do.
This has worked well the last few times, but it's very much dependent on guests arriving on time. My first guests were Penn Jillette and Piff the Magic Dragon who were heading over from the Chris Evans (that one) show. Penn is in a wheelchair at the moment and so needed to come by cab and the cab was delayed and the pair refused to use their magic to just arrive here by teleportation, so were several minutes late and we then had to negotiate the wheelchair up to the studio with doors that were a bit too narrow or double doors where only one door would open.
We got there and it was a really fun and mad interview (which will be out on Wednesday). Penn had said he was only going to be at 55% but I asked him about his appearance in Miami Vice and I thought that might be the whole interview and Piff wouldn't get a say. They were also very funny about how things had gone down on the Chris Evans show. But even though I cut things short, we were not running late and we had to do the reverse journey with the wheelchair.
David Baddiel was up next and had had quite a palaver getting here and was annoyed to have been kept waiting for 15 minutes, but when I explained it was because the previous guest was in a wheelchair he had to suck it up. We had a fun chat about his upcoming Channel 4 thriller and other stuff too.
The next guest, Charlie Higson, seemed less annoyed to have been kept waiting 10 minutes and was ready to go and we had a fun chat about his James Bond book as well as a brief interlude to talk about the Fighting Fantasy series that he's also contributed to. As Book Clubs run at 45 minutes usually, we were back on course for Reece Shearsmith (and actually finished ten minutes before the studio time was up).
There isn't time to think or relax or eat on a day like this, but the interviews whizzed by and I had a late lunch at 3pm before heading home. I wrote the blurbs for the shows in a local cafe and a woman who had seen the pottery show last night saw me and couldn't believe I was there. Even though she'd seen me making Hitchin based stuff. She was pretty much the definition of flabbergasted.
I've still got it. Pottery is the new rock n roll.
Thanks to everyone who has said such nice things about my crazy, colourful, wonky pottery. There's loads of great stuff to come, from everyone in the show. I don't know if they will include any of my many melt-downs, but that will entertaining if they do. Fatiha used to call it Richard o'clock as it generally happened about an hour after lunch

I have confirmed one of the guests for the final every RHLSTP but as it's sold out anyway I think I will keep the guests secret. September gig is also now sold out. But you can join the waiting list and keep an eye out for extra ones being released. ,
